W.L. Henry Student Headed to National Spanish Spelling Bee
Eighteen students in grades 4 through 6 from both Dual Language and non-Dual Language schools providing Spanish Literacy participated in the State Spanish Spelling Bee on Wednesday, April 24. Each of these students was the top Spanish speller for their grade level at their school. Brookwood Elementary School fifth-grader Ania Garcia landed in the top twelve finalists, and W.L. Henry Elementary School sixth-grader Hazel Chapman took 3rd place! Her high finish earned her $2,000 and an invitation to the National Spanish Spelling Bee in El Paso, Texas. Congratulations and way to go, Hazel! We wish you all the best at the national competition!
